Nothing

I stand on the edge of a cliff.
A fire burns behind me.
Nothing stands in front of me.
A free-fall,
A flame.
Nothing.

I do not think.
I do not run.
I do not fight.
No butterflies race through my stomach.
No thoughts cross my mind.
No tears fall down my face.

The fire moves close, and yet I do not move.
The flames begin to consume me, and yet I feel no heat.
I am engulfed, and I do not feel pain.

I stand on the edge of a cliff.
The fire burns through me.
The nothingness expands in front of me.

And I feel nothing.
