Emotions Fresco

The goal for this photoshoot was to represent the different emotions we all feel through the use of makeup. The focus was especially on the emotions we go through when experiencing any sort of grief from anger to sadness and finally peace and resilience.

The project started with my friend Garance who had this idea of expressing a range of feelings through the use of photography but in a subtle way. That’s when we had the idea of using artistic makeup to convey the strong sentiments of anger, sadness and joy. Consequently, we didn’t want Garance to act the emotions too much but instead let the makeup speak for itself.

The idea is also to show the evolution of feelings through a triptych. The photographs aren’t only meant to be showcased on their own but also be seen as a whole, side by side. Moreover, we also wanted to show the different emotions’ intensity. Even though anger, sadness and joy are already strong emotions it was important for us to show their subtleties. These emotions have levels and we wanted to address that as well.
