Femininity Gothic

Femininity Gothic (2019) exists as a series of work focusing upon the conventions of the Gothic heroine and villainess as they are persecuted for their femininity, be it chaste or sexual.  Underlying themes of vanity, madness, misogyny, deceit, chastity, and sexuality exist within the context of Gothic femininity and are presented in these five mirrors under the names of Lucille, Rebecca, Adeline, Edith, and Hester. Each mirror has its own identity, purpose, and weight and draws attention to the impact these conventions still hold on the present day idealization of womxn.
