Emily Pope is an artist living and working in Toronto. Her practice is an analysis of her body in relationship with society and culture today. Through a variety of mediums and materiality changes orbiting a methodology of introspection. Emily’s work explores the idea of objectivity within the self, and its pairing with other ‘vessels’ - juxtaposing with texture and depth given to the themes observed.

I always wondered why I was so attached to drawing female portraits when one day, it came to me. All female characters represent me. They are all very different from each other, and that's how I often feel. I often experience this feeling of an identity crisis and not being able to focus on one thing because many things interest me.
